Seren Hewer

Seren was born and raised in Caerphilly, South Wales. Having done her whole education in Welsh and barely leaving the country, she moved to Imperial College London in 2019 initially on the MSci Chemistry with a Year in Industry Course. In addition to a placement year at Syngenta in the synthesis of novel herbicides, Seren has also completed a summer placement at Rothamsted Research in the analysis of fungi samples for the control of take-all disease in wheat and a UROP with Dr Maxie Roessler developing analytical assays for the kinetic study of photosynthetic complex I (meaning she has barely gone back to Wales since COVID). She is a final year MSci student in the Crimmin group working with Professor David Churchill (KAIST) on chemosensors for HF shuttling reactions. In her free time, she attends concerts, bakes, watches lots of television, and drinks a lot of tea.
