Georgina Rai

Gina was born and raised in southeast London. She studied Chemistry at the University of Bristol, with a year abroad at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. There, she worked with Prof. Mike Fryzuk synthesising ligands and complexes for catalytic dinitrogen activation. She came back to Bristol for her final year MSci project with Prof. Paul Pringle, working on ligand synthesis for catalytic methoxycarbonylation of ethylene. She took a post-university gap year with the hope to go travelling, but due to COVID-19 ended up doing some secondary science teaching instead. She is now at Imperial College London as part of the MRes/PhD CDT REACT programme. Her project aims to provide a workflow for establishing a fundamental understanding of catalytic formylation with homogeneous palladium catalysis, and is in collaboration between the Crimmin, Greenaway and Miller groups. Outside of the lab, Gina likes to travel, eat good food, and go for a drink.
